July 11, 1982 in East Berlin: Residents of an apartment building are preparing for the TV broadcast of the World Cup final (Italy versus Germany) in Madrid, which will begin in a few minutes. Over the next 90 minutes, the film tells of the events in five apartments in the house in several episodes: the examination of a marriage candidate, the scratchy friendship of two old ladies, the affair of the wife of a football fan, the homesickness of a Chilean emigrant and the hesitant renewed rapprochement of a divorced young couple.
