Description

Trainer Oronzo Canà is called to manage Longobarda, the team of a small town of Northern Italy, when it's promoted to the First Division. His only task is not to go back to the Second Division, but even the team's owner plays against Longobarda since the First Division is too expensive, and the young Brazilian player bought for the team is affected by deep ‘saudade'. Much like The Producers by Mel Brooks, the film is about an inept coach who has been hired to manage a team that has been newly promoted to the Serie A. However, he is unaware that he has been hired by the chairman to ensure that the team has no hope of avoiding relegation.
Its star, Lino Banfi, is one of the most popular comic actors of his generation and this film remains so popular that the players of the Italian national squad used some of the lines from the movie as a mantra when they won the last European Championship. (Matt Micucci)
