Early 1960s At the height of the Cuban crisis, the U.S. Secret Service kidnaps a prominent mathematician, Joshua Mansky. An alcohol-abusing forgotten genius is to perform in a chess duel against Soviet champion Gavrilov at an international tournament at warsaw's Palace of Culture and Science. Rivalry, however, is just a cover for spying gameplay. When allies turn out to be enemies and you don't know who to really trust, Mansky must make a decisive move to stop the nuclear conflict.
