Young mason apprentice Gunnar "Nicken" Gawell is sent by old mason Karlsson down the scaffolding on Kungsholmen to buy pilsner. He is carrying ten bottles when he collides in a corner with beautiful Ann-Marie, who drops her bag at the same time as he drops his bottles. The girl makes a deep impression on Gunnar. Inside the Häggblom family, we meet Ann-Marie's father and mother quarreling over tipping, which is apparently still not completely legal. Häggblom has smuggled money away to tip AIK. In comes Ann-Marie who outside has her raft boss Freddy Bellin waiting in her car. Freddy is Ann-Marie's boss, she works in his office, and she's one of his fiancés. At Gawells' home in Lärkstaden.
