Biffen and Bananen are two former competition cyclists who work at the bicycle factory Standard. The steak is carnivorous, the banana vegetarian, and this in conjunction with some differences in body volume and comprehension often causes controversy between them. Their friend Stickan Berglund also works at Standard, who advertises the company's bicycles through successful competition participation. The stick has drawn a new, improved hub, which he offers the boss, director Carlsson. After consulting Standard's own engineer, Tage Wendel, Carlsson decides not to build the hub. Disappointed with the company's attitude, Stickan resigns. During a training trip, Stickan is hit by a beautiful girl in a car and injured in the knee. The training for the upcoming big race must be stopped. Carlsson wants him to sue the driver for damages; the director does not know that it is his own daughter Kerstin Carve. When the truth dawns on him, he offers Stickan a generous settlement in good faith, but he refuses to appear as an extortionist. Kerstin is courted by Tage Wendel but has become interested in Stickan. She wants to help him build the hub but he is not willing to accept money from that direction. The steak and the banana have a different view. They have left Standard and opened their own small bicycle workshop, where they are trying to put together a new bicycle for Stickan. When they lack the necessary capital, they meet behind the back of Stickan's agreement with Kerstin on receiving three thousand kronor, her travel money for a trip abroad. To Stickan, they say that money came from an “aunt". The steak and the banana attach themselves to a cute girl who comes to get help with her bike. Their relationship becomes somewhat strained when they discover that she has arranged a meeting with the two of them; in fact, they are the twin sisters Ella and Elsa, whom they cannot distinguish. Stickan has recovered and is setting up with his now completed Triumph in Dagens Nyheter's six-day race. It goes well for Stickan, especially as Kerstin provides his two companions Biffen and Bananen with strategic tips from the Standard team without the father having any idea. Stickan, on the other hand, finds out that Kerstin has invested money in the hub. At first he wants to pay back, but eventually he realizes that she believed in him and wants him to win. During a break in the competition, they encounter Kalmar Castle. The meeting ends with a kiss; Stickan and Kerstin have fallen in love with each other. At night, Bananen dreams that he has been transferred to the knighthood and witnesses a tour duel between Stickan and "Tage Wendelkråka”. The stick leads the six-day race on the penultimate stage. A car accident has occurred along the road. He stops and discovers that it is Kerstin's car; she is lying next to her injured. To take care of her, he interrupts the race and thus waives the opportunity to win. Competitor Yngve Lund wins. But Stickan has not sacrificed himself in vain; he wins Kerstin and a new fine employment contract with Standard. The steak and the banana show up at the twin sisters to "make up" about the sweet girl. To their mutual joy, they discover that there is one for them each.
