Biffen och Bananen are employed by manager Rudolf Carlman to take care of his racing stable. The steak, big and strong, loves meat and trotting; The banana, flimsy but from the line, prefers a vegetarian diet and galloping horses. The reason for Carlman's interest in horses is the holding of a clothing company. Competition victories give the company advertising and around the tracks he can show off his latest collection. For the latter purpose, he surrounds himself with a host of beautiful and well-dressed mannequins, among which he also tries to satisfy purely personal interests. Before the competition "Stockholm's grand prize" at Ulriksdal, the stable lacks a jockey and Carlman persuades his friend Georg Hector, lieutenant and former teacher at Strömsholm's riding school, to take on the task. The steak and the banana are initially skeptical of the newcomer, but Hector shows his talent in a race by riding in one of the stable's horses in second place, and soon all three have come to an agreement. At a party at Carlman's, Georg meets one of the company's star mannequins, Anita. Mutual interest arises. However, the manager himself is looking for Anita and offers her a free study trip to Paris in his company. She declines the offer and starts riding in the mornings with Georg. Soon she will be good friends with Biffen and Bananen. Carlman's hope in the battle for the grand prize goes to the mare Blondie. Georg fails, however, in the start of the race and is defeated after a violent retrieval of the field. Disappointed and jealous, the manager takes the opportunity to blackmail Anita: Either she accompanies her to Paris or Georg, Biffen and Bananen are fired. But Anita is steadfast and her friends are consequently fired. Blondie, who has not run in any money, will be sold at auction. Bananen is now taking the initiative for a council meeting at Bojan's café, whose owner in the widow's estate has been waiting for some time for an approach from the groom's side. The outcasts agree to raise money to buy Blondie, and start her in the upcoming derby at Jägersro, where she is already registered. Georg borrows on his life insurance, Biffen wins at Solvalla, Anita takes a new mannequin job, and Bananen borrows SEK 1,000 from Bojan for something similar to a marriage vow in the event that the money is lost. The remaining necessary capital is earned by Biffen and Bananen together with Anita and Georg by - with some effort - walking mannequins for a company in the sports and outdoor industry. With four thousand in their pockets, they go to the auction. The steak and the banana do their best to haggle over the value of Blondie, and at the crucial moment they check out the most stubborn bidder so that Anita can call in the horse for their total assets. The new owners take the train to Malmö with Blondie on board. One of the fellow passengers is manager Carlman, who intends to line up another horse in the derby. He offers Anita a good job in the company, and she hesitates to say no given what would happen if Blondie failed. In the freight wagon's spill, the Banana calculates how many calories the Steak puts in, but the grown-up carnivore's tear-jerking concern is the fact that his faithful friend the Banana must marry Bojan if the debt cannot be repaid. The derby race at Jägersro is taking place, and everything that Sweden has from a gallop-interested audience with royalty in the lead is in place. In a private bet with his former employees, Carlman bets a thousand kroner on his horse winning and deposits the sum with Bananen. He hurries to the tote door and invests the money in Blondie. Anita leaves her jewelry as a counterpart in the bet. The field of horses starts. The banana is full of nervousness, hiding behind the Steak and fainting during the finish, which Blondie wins after a hard fight with Carlman's horse. With the odds of 27, the owners collect SEK 27,000. The financial worries are dispelled. To their disappointment, Bojan loses a new husband, while Anita and Georg celebrate the victory with an engagement. All good things eventually become three: Blondie gets a pasture to graze in and her two inseparable caretakers return. (http://www.svenskfilmdatabas.se/sv/item/?type=film&itemid=4359#plot-summary)
