Title Stubby
Original Title Fimpen
Description The successful football player Mackan happily reads the leaflets outside a store. They are about him and his brilliant efforts against West Germany. He comes to a playground, where some little boys are playing football. He gets involved in the game - and gets pampered. One of the little ones plays tunnel on him, and that a couple of times. The little major player is called home by mom. His name is Johan, but he is called Fimpen. Mackan comes home to his fiancée with broken self-confidence. The sandwich is not recognizable in the series game. He's talking about a slump. You do not even fit into the women's team, says the club leader. Mackan tips the leader about the fantastic Fimpen, after which it does not take long before the little one makes his debut in the Allsvenskan, and already in the first match he scores two goals. Georg "Åby" Ericson calls Fimpen and says: I have decided that you will play in the national team in the international match on Sunday. The sandwich is watching TV. He hears Sven Lindahl tell about the national team selection of Fimpen and is silenced. The international match is played against Hungary, which goes up to the lead with 3--0. Ralf Edström reduces to 3--1 on a pass from Fimpen. Then Fimpen himself makes 3--2 and fits to 3–3. Johan has started in first class, but there is not much time for schooling, before he will go with the national team to Austria for the World Cup qualifier. TV's Arne Hegerfors interviews Fimpen and Åby at Arlanda before leaving. Åby tells about a newly purchased picture book as entertainment for Fimpen, "14 little bears”. The night before the match, Fimpen cannot fall asleep, despite player after player taking turns reading aloud. In the important match, Austria takes the lead with 2--0. On a post from Fimpen, Ralf Edström makes it 2--1, and then Fimpen nods in 2–2. After returning home, Fimpen is tired. At school he falls asleep on the mattress. His teacher is worried and talks to the principal. The next national team trip is to Portugal. Ronnie Hellström falls asleep during the usual good night reading for Fimpen. Fimpen himself is wide awake and begins to lay solace. The team complains to Åby about this constant reading in the same book. Can't the union buy a new one? It is a cost issue, says Åby doubtfully. At home again, Fimpen asks an aunt to read what it says on a leaflet, "The Portuguese burned himself on Swedish fimp”. At school, the miss is teaching the class the letter S, when the principal enters the classroom at the head of a lot of photographers who want to meet Fimpen. In the next international, which is played against England, Fimpen fails. "Fimpen extinguishing after a quarter", summarizes a leaflet afterwards. Fimpen is getting more and more tired at school, and he does badly even in the next league match, where he also barks at the referee. After an international match against France, Fimpen is surrounded by autograph hunters. But there will be no autographs. Fimpen can not write. Diva! shouts disgruntled fans. Fimpen does not intend to accompany the national team to Moscow for the World Cup qualifier against the Soviets. He does not want to be called Fimpen, he tells Bo Holmström on TV, and he wants to learn to read and write. Friends can write their names. But Fimpen (now called Johan) changes and joins the national team one last time - on condition that he avoids "14 little bears". Sven Lindahl tells it on TV. Sweden beats the Soviets 3--2, and Johan scores all three goals. Afterwards he gets to ride on Åby's shoulders. Johan sits in the stadium stands and sees a reborn Mackan play with elegance and imagination. After the match, he signs a lot of autographs, when Johan passes. At school, the miss asks what 2 plus 2 will be. Many raise their hands, finally Johan too, and he gets the question. 5, he replies, and the class giggles. In its own way, it's right, says the miss. There are things that are more important than 2 plus 2 being 4.The final image shows Johan's face. (http://www.svenskfilmdatabas.se/sv/item/?type=film&itemid=4923#)
