The imaginative and headstrong Marcello has low self-esteem and no friends of his own, but has a good friend in his little sister. Marcello's mother forces her little son to sing in the boys' choir, even though he sings falsely so that the priest feels bad and the angels cry. His father believes that men should do masculine things and claims that he works as a roofer, when he is actually a cleaner. He wants his son to become a successful football player. Marcello himself prefers to become a pilot. But there is a gigantic problem ¿he is afraid of heights. One day, a Palestinian girl, Fatima, starts in class. She is sharp and strong and also good at football. She becomes Marcello's first friend, even though her two brothers forbid her to spend time with boys. Fatima teaches Marcello to dare to live out his own dreams, instead of living up to his parents' ideals. Fatima finally dares to stand up to her brothers and starts playing football with boys.
