Title Rattle of a Simple Man
Original Title Rattle of a Simple Man
Description Percy Winthram comes to London from Manchester for the Cup Final. After the game he and his companions end the evening in a Soho strip club. Percy is innocent, shy and embarrassed. Ginger bets he won't take a blonde home and sleep with her. Percy, after an agonised moment, accepts. The blonde, who has overheard the bet, accepts too but when they get home Percy's courage fails him. Cyrenne is sympathetic and tells him of her aristocratic background. Impressed, he boasts of his conquests and their mutual trust and liking grows. The illusions are shattered by the intervention of Cyrenne's family and Percy leaves having lost his bet. Unable to bear losing her he stops the departing coach and hurries back with the excuse of getting his rattle. [BFI]
